Strengthening effective access to justice for\u00a0humanitarian personnel, specifically national and locally recruited personnel, is crucial \u00a0to combat impunity for attacks on humanitarian personnel and strengthen the broader\u00a0protection of civilians in conflict zones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Protect Humanitarians and <a href=\"https:\/\/legalactionworldwide.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Legal Action Worldwide<\/a> co-organised a two-day workshop to bring together humanitarian actors, experts, and legal practitioners committed to improving\u00a0accountability and combating impunity for attacks against humanitarian personnel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the report you will find <strong>key insights<\/strong> from the workshop, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Testimonies<\/strong> from survivors, lawyers and their organisations from Ukraine, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Palestine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Research findings<\/strong> and discussions on strategic litigation and legal remedies available to humanitarian personnel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Challenges and opportunities<\/strong> related to investigation, reporting and prosecution; access to legal services; victim- and survivor-centered justice and accountability; advocacy; preventing and responding to arbitrary detention; collaborative research, learning and training.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Recommendations<\/strong> for the international community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the two days, discussions led to the identification of 6 priority recommendations:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place <strong>victims and survivors voices at the center<\/strong> of efforts to protect humanitarian personnel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reinforce investigations, prosecutions, and efforts<\/strong> to hold alleged perpetrators accountable.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure <strong>access to legal support<\/strong> by providing free, independent, and specialized legal information, assistance and representation to humanitarian personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Scale up <strong>advocacy activities<\/strong> for the protection of humanitarian personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure a swift, efficient, and <strong>appropriate response to cases of arbitrary arrest and detention<\/strong> of humanitarian personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Support the humanitarian sector, particularly local actors, to <strong>prevent and respond to violence<\/strong> against humanitarian personnel through research, training, and collaboration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>The full report is available <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/protecthumanitarians.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Workshop-Report-PH-LAW.pdf\"><b>HERE<\/b><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1933 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/protecthumanitarians.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image001-1-300x264.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/protecthumanitarians.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image001-1-300x264.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/protecthumanitarians.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image001-1.jpeg 553w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 264px) 100vw, 264px\" \/><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEngaging in justice and accountability processes is an act of solidarity.
